I work to combine policy analysis and project management to create innovative, capacity building projects in health care and civil society. I am looking to build on my experience working to deliver capacity-building community projects in post-conflict environments.
EMPLOYMENT
N.H.S. LONDON, Strategy & Development Project Coordinator, London UK 01/2010 – Present
I have been working with the strategy and development team at the strategic health authority for London, working across work streams to deliver a new model of workforce planning for NHS services across London.
Responsibilities: managing and coordinating step-change projects for healthcare workforce planning across London.
Project Management: ensuring the delivery of a new software toolkit; coordinating subject matter experts, technicians, and external stakeholders. Implementing project monitoring and evaluation mechanisms including identifying and delivering to key performance indicators. Ensuring and reporting on the delivery of project deadlines at regular checkpoint meetings.
Stakeholder management and outreach: developing a network of workforce leads across London through identifying and interviewing key stakeholders and conducting a London-wide survey. Facilitating focus groups and steering committees to create what has become the first stakeholder-led workforce planning process for London.
Communications & writing: project reporting including producing and presenting project plans, drafting correspondence and briefings, and writing lessons learnt documentation.
Software development and testing schematics; designing testing ‘best practice’ briefings, user acceptance testing procedure, schematics and scripts, change control logs and orchestrating functional and user acceptance testing.
Achievements:
Managed the first stakeholder-led annual review of the workforce planning process; creating a bottom-up workforce planning process to feed the education commissioning for healthcare practitioners. Received positive feedback from all participants.
Designed and implemented the testing schematics of the new Workforce Planning Toolkit, delivering a new ‘Toolkit’ that is fit for purpose, to deadline, as evidenced by meeting quality criteria.
Presented a successful project proposal at the London Dental Forum winning over full-support, where previously there had been substantial resistance, on how to obtain the first base-line of the dental workforce in London.
OPEN SOCIETY INSTITUTE: Research Associate, Washington D.C. USA 07/2008 – 01/2009
I worked as a research associate at an international think tank and policy centre, focused on building governance and development in weak and fragile states.
Responsibilities: Primary researcher for the book ‘The Success and The Survival of Liberty’.
Undertook research including qualitative and quantitative analysis of weak and fragile states, and the efficacy of bilateral and multilateral aid efforts targeting democracy, development and security around the world.
Copy editor and fact checker.
Program support to Director of the U.S. policy program in the Washington DC OSI office.
Achievements: Produced the book ‘The Success and The Survival of Liberty’ to meet author’s requirements, time and budget.
Researched, wrote and presented report on top ‘movers and shakers’ of democracies across the world to the Steering Committee the Community of Democracies, summit 2009.
OSCE, ODIHR: International Election Observer, Macedonia 05/2008 – 04/2008
Responsibilities: Short term election observer; U.K. representative for the OSCE Election Observation Mission in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
Observed voting activities leading up to, on, and after, Election Day in the Tetovo region, an area experiencing political and civil unrest.
Responsible for interviewing election officials; monitoring and reporting on voting procedures and the counting and tabulation of the election results at district and municipal level.
Achievement: produced report that resulted in re-calling fraudulent election results.
EAST RIVER MEDIA/TRIUMPH LEARNING/ON-RAMPS: Freelance Communications Associate, New York USA 08/2006 – 07/2008
I worked in New York as a freelance project coordinator in public relations and marketing, focusing on civil rights campaigns. Clients included the Azerbaijan Development Society, Legal Momentum, Senator Joseph Biden, Credit Suisse and Triumph Learning.
Responsibilities:
Project management: devised and undertook roll-out of outreach campaigns including a civil rights campaign for political prisoners. Managed marketing project schedules and liaised closely with the editorial and finance teams and senior management to agree new marketing strategies.
Client and stakeholder management; initiating meetings with key policy leaders in Washington and London, liaising with potential donors.
Report and grant writing: I have produced successful funding applications. Clients included Azerbaijan Development Society Legal Momentum and Sen. Joe Biden.
Communications: updated communications and marketing strategies for an educational publishing house. Designed and produced print and website materials
Research: new pricing scenarios and new outreach strategies, Research publications including ‘Celebrating Women’ a book on behalf of Legal Momentum.
Achievements:
Launched the Azerbaijan Development Society; creating a network of political and corporate sponsors spanning the US and Europe, produced launch and briefing materials on civil rights & political issues, producing a successful funding proposal for a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment for Democracy.
Executed a new 2008 marketing campaign targeting market leaders in key states, to make substantial cost-savings for Triumph Learning.
VERTIC (Verification Research Training and Information Center): Research Assistant, London UK 12/2005 – 04/2006
Think-tank covering verification issues of international treaties. I worked on international arms control treaties.
Researched and wrote briefing papers and articles including a briefing paper with the science fellow, ‘IAEA verification of military research and development.’ Orchestrated discussion round table and the logistics of a United Nations-based event.
